A Comparative Study of International Approaches to Firefighter PPE Decontamination
The study exploring the decontamination of firefighters' personal protective equipment (PPE) and the challenges in training for effective decontamination practices commenced at Ulster University by MSc Fire Safety Engineering student Shawn Dobbyn. Through semi-structured interviews with experienced fire service members from the USA, Australia, the UK, and Ireland, he aims to compare international approaches and identify gaps in current procedures and guidance documents. The study seeks to contribute to improving firefighters safety by highlighting best practices and potential areas for improvement (see Work Package 6).
